Need to know what cables and where you connected them.
Back of DVD player will have red /white for right left audio, or an orange for digital audio, possibly an optical connection too. Then on the video side, a yellow for composite video, a round 4 pin type for "S" video, and usually red/blue/green for component video. PLus either a DVI or HDMI computer style plug. Various combinations of these should be able to give you results that are good depending on the connections at the LCD TV.

I connected everything trough the composite, changed the cable box to a HDTV cable box, bought those special HD cables from monster.I just checked behind the DVD player and the only cable that i dont have is the orange, and there it says digital out and there are two things that say Coaxial and optical.Do you think thats is the reason the sound its not working well. And if I need those cables where should I get it?Thanks again for your help

From what you just said, it sounds like you have the Yellow (video out) from the DVD going into a Yellow (video in) on the Dell. Then you must have the right/left audio out from the DVD player (red/white jacks) going into a right/left audio in on the Dell. As long as these audio in's are going to the same set as the video in you shouldn't have a problem.
If the main problem is that the DVD sounds lower than the cable box, this could be caused by the fact that cable boxes have a setting to let the volume level be affected by the volume on the cable box, in the cable box set up menu, there should be something to let you set the sound to "fixed" output, thus the cable box volume control will have no effect, it will only be the Dell volume that raises or lowers it.

If this isn't the case, you may want to switch the audio cables from the cable box to the DVD and see if there is any difference, maybe you have a bad set of audio cables.

The coaxial or optical outs from the DVD are only going to be any good if the TV has the same type fo inputs, which most don't.

good luck

Sorry to bother you again but I just noticed that the Dell TV has a coaxial cable, what do you think.

coax is for TV input
Sep 25, 2005 11:12PM PDT

The coax input (screw on type of end) would be for a regular cable input either from the wall jack or the coax out from your cable box (if you didn't want the better picture and sound) Couls also be used for a coax out from a satellite box.

same problem with DVD and dell
Sep 25, 2005 11:31PM PDT

I have the exact same problem. I have a Dell LCD and Plasma TV. Both are great except I've noticed that the volume is much lower when I play DVD's. I have the DVD player connected with a DVI cable for picture and the standard sound (red/white) cables. Please let me know if you were able to correct this issue.
