There are very few of these machines out there.

What's the models you have available?

I've seen a bunch of them

Here's a few I've read about and seen in stores for the 2-400 range:

Govideo VR5940 DVD Recorder+VCR

Panasonic DVD Recorder?VCR Combo E75 (Walmart)

JVC Progressive-Scan DVD Recorder/Hi-Fi VCR Combo (BestBuy)

Pioneer-Progressive Scan DVD-R/RW Recorder (BestBuy)

The JVC/Panasonic and Pioneer then.

The Go models are fine, but there is some concern about their service network. Just on that alone, I'd pass them up.

And ... 4 models is not a lot. But may be enough for you to choose one from.

If you want a lot of models to pick over, try your DVD players or old VHS recorders...

What are your thoughts on the Pioneer DVR-520H as a DVD recorder?

I'd get one.

My and other people I know have had good experiences with the Pioneer equipement. They seem to have not fallen in the trap of finding equipment made elsewhere and slapping their name on it...
