DVD to VCD

Nov 19, 2004 9:28AM PST

I have Nero Burning ROM 6.6.0.1 and have been trying to burn VCD's from .avi or .mpg files I've created. The .avi's or .mpg's play normally using my Power dvd player. Nero starts by "encoding" before it burns. My Nero has the 2 required plug-ins for mpeg-2. I get an o.k. video but no audio in the finished cd-r. I'm sure it's something relatively easy to fix..any help would be much appreciated!

It's not my business, but why go down to VCD from DVD? I haven't seen a VCD yet that looks as good as videotape.

Next, MPEG-1 is required for VCDs (MPEG-2 for DVDs) , so you'll need the proper codec or plugin for that.

Hope you can solve it.

Timwerx has a very good question here; why dvd to vcd when dvd burner is $70 and dvd disc is only 20-40 cents? I am not familiar with Nero 6.6 so I can't comment on that too much but I have a program called "DVDcopy" by Intervideo can do that ok (no copy protected material though).

I agree...

Too much work and a sad view (VCD). The last 8X recorders were under 49 bucks and a 50 pack of DVD-R was under 15... DVDSHRINK (zero cost) duped the DVD with no pain.

I'd grab that software before it becomes too well known.

Thank you all very much for your help. I hadn't looked at dvd burners before (didn't realize how cheap they'd become..lol) but I'll be buying one this week!
