Dec 6, 2003 1:08AM PST

Hi
I soon have to travel for work soon and wish to bring my fav dvd's to watch while on the road.is there a method to transfere my original copy's of dvd to my harddrive ? (dont want my dvd's to vanish) if there is any shareware or free-trail software to do this that would be a bonus.Thanx for the help.

This is what I use...

1. DVD Decrypter is used to rip your DVD Movies into VOB files and saved to your Laptop HDD.
The only problem is each DVD Movie will take up 4~7 GB of disk space.

2. I then use Vidomi to encode & compress the VOB files into DivX or Xvid files which are only 700~800 MB with very slight loss of quality and excellent for play back on your Laptop.

You can also use KlaskMPEG or Dr DivX to do the encoding.

Here are the links:

DVD Decrypter
Vidomi
Dr DivX

Flask MPEG

Have fun...

You need to install your copy of PowerDVD, WinDVD or what other DVD player software you have.

If you don't have any DVD Player software you can use Vidomi to encode the Vob files into AVI files with DivX and then it'll play back with Vidomi or Windows Media Player.

If PowerDVD is already installed, double-clicking on the file should launch PowerDVD and play it immediately.

Or you can right-click the file and select Open With, then choose PowerDVD and check the option Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
