Dec 28, 2004 12:51AM PST

Hi,

For some reason I'm unable to burn Data, Audio or Video DVD-RWs

I can burn fine using DVD+R but Nero gives me a "Burn Process Failed at 2.4x" error when i try to burn anything on a DVD-RW

Could use some help

My burner is BenQ DW-1610 (B8M9 Firmware) and I use Nero 6.6 to burn

Thanks,
Mario

DVD Media?
Dec 28, 2004 4:59AM PST

Perhaps the DVD-RW media is not rated to burn anything faster than 2x.

Sometimes, even though the DVD media is rated at 4x, a DVD burner may have trouble burning at the speed.

Try limiting the burn speed to 2x to see if this will help.

Nero locked on 2.4x
Dec 28, 2004 5:51AM PST

Hi Jeff,

Nero won?t let me lower the speed. It only gives me one option (2.4x)

Any software suggestion that has the ability to choose a lower writing speed would be greatly appreciated

Strange

Strange...

Are you sure your not using DVD+R Dual layer disc (8.5 GB rather than 4.7 GB)?

By default DVD+R disc use 2.4x. Can you up the speed?

Have you tried other DVD-RW media?

Software burning programs like Roxio may allow you to burn at a lower speed. There are a variety of other burning programs out there.

I can't lower or boost writing speed in Nero

I think I?m going to have to try another brand of DVD-RW media

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

DVD-RW media - try a few brands
Dec 29, 2004 12:22AM PST

The problem is that it may vary from DVD burner model to the next. One DVD burner might burn less well on a specific DVD-RW media, while another model burns much better.

But try brand name ones like:
TDK, Sony, Verbatim, Maxell etc.

+rw?

I would try dvd+rw instead of -rw. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Prodisc, TDK brand.
