DVD-RW capacity vs. MiniDV?

1. What is the max continous recording time on the DVD-RW disc say on a Sony DCR-DVD201 vs that on a MiniDV tape on a Sony DCR-HC40?

2. How does the media changing time differ i.e. inserting a new disc vs a tape?

Thanks in advance,

1. Just averages, not EXACT!!! After awhile you'll learn that motion and sound changes the length of time you'll get. But for comparison... MiniDV usually gets you 60 minutes, but look at the tape and there's the time.

Big DVD-RW is 2 hours but depends on encoding. I can push more than that. Sony Camcorders with DVD recording is getting about 20 minutes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the prompt response. So you mean that a Mini-DVD will offer 20 mins on Sony while a regular/ big DVD can offer upto 2 hrs. What would be the process of transferring video from a mini-DVD to a regular one? Transfer it from the camcorder to the PC hard drive and then write it on the regular DVD disc?

Thanks in advance,

There must be many methods. Try what Sony tells you to do first.
