DVD-Rom Problem! Need Help!

My dvd rom got problem. It can play CD's, songs, softwares and even games.. I can watch DVD too.. but it can only watch DVD9... i tried the dvd-r which my friend burn to me and it did not work.. he then tried at his pc and it works.. also recently i burned a large file into my dvd-rw disc from my friend's pc.. when i run it into my DVD-Rom it makes an annoying sound.. i can hear it spins for a few second and then stoped and it happen for many times and then it opened but it's empty.. can you help me with this problem?

your OS and what player you're using?

My OS is windows xp sp 2.. i use Windows media player, Real Player, WinDVD, PowerDVD.. and still the dvd won't run..

They may be using something else.

Compare the machines as well as the installed CODECs.
