what do you mean by "play back in analog format"? if that means you are using the headphone jack or the analog input connection from the drive, then it looks like the drive electronics are broken. best thing to do is to remove the drive and test it in another computer.

I'm having a problem with my DVD-Rom Drive. My CD Burning program isn't reconizing my DVD Rom Drive, but I see it is still listed when I start my PC. I can't play DVD's, and my media players only play back in Analog format, not digital. I've tried removing it from the device manager, and let Windows find it, but that didn't help. I am using windows 98. Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance...
