DVD ROM not reading

So what kind of CD do i use for a bootable start up and how do i do the bootable start up.

I tried installing DVD43, and inserted both a original DVD and the Indian one, the original did not even pick up, the indian movie worked as normal when opened WinDVD, but DVD43 did not recognse it, it says that 0/2 Video DVD... it should say 1/2 if it was recognised.
