one of your device drivers isn't working right that is handling the USB ports. i suggest you check for updates to the USB drivers and to each of your DVD drives. it also wouldn't hurt to check for updates to any DVD players you have installed. lastly, you should see what WindowsUpdate has to say about updates you may need.
Herb....
I have a strange problem. I recently bought a new Plextor external 8x dvd burner. I had a micro solutions backpack and it worked fine. So I installed the plextor and shutdown my computer. When I restarted my computer and put in a dvd movie in my internal dvd drive (not the plextor) the computer just shutdown. So I took out the disk and restarted my computer again. Then I put the same movie in the plextor same thing happened. The computer just shutdown. Here comes the weird part, I put in a cd-rom game in each drive and the drives read it fine. Also if I put in a dvd that I burnt the computer will also shutdown. It seems that my drives are not reading dvd's correctly. What should I do? I have XP operating system. I also have USB 2.0 ports and everything has worked fine up until I bought this new drive.
