Dec 1, 2003 5:01AM PST

I recently got a Mad Dog dvd rom drive, and after spending too much time installing it at getting it to work, i noticed a problem when i loaded up a DVD, the sound was all crackly. Does anybody know how to fix this?

"Tip: If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution."

Given no other information, only one can guess.

LiteOn SOHC 5236V CD/DVD ROM problems

The drive will not recognize any type of CD, it makes a crackling sound and then stops, restarts, crackling again, stops, restarts, and the whole routine again for about 3 more times. Even when there is no CD inside, I check the properties of the drive and it shows no memory left (all blue, no pink left), but there is no CD inside!!! I updated the driver and no help, I uninstalled the CD/DVD hardware and restarted my computer, and no help. I have an Enpower with XP Media Center, AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core Processor 3800+. Any help anyone????
