DVD region Setting

by ramusson / May 24, 2005 11:01 PM PDT

I have a Mercury 238V DVD / VCD / ACD / MP3 player. This is (as per the manual) capable of playing DVD's with any region code.

Does anybody have the procedure to change the region code and/or make it regon code free?

Thanks in advance.

If I do run across a DVD I bought that was in the wrong region I just use DVDSHRINK to make a region free DVD.

Best of luck,

That's what I do with my DVD's. Not a very welcome procerdure if I just want to see a movie once! Spending 6 hours to watch a 3 hour movie!

Maybe I'll get (hopefully) an answer.

Sorry, but the original query was for a stand alone dvd player, not a dvd drive.

As far as the computer is concerned, I NEVER play a DVD directly from the drive; but rip it to the HDD.

Then you shop for a region free DVD player.

Highly unlikely.

Given just a few hits at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=Mercury+238V+DVD and ZERO in google groups plus no manual, your DVD player is not of enough population to be one that would be of interest to those that alter such.

You should shop for a region free player to solve this and dump that thing.

On a P4 2.6 HT, Is you do not select any fancy reprocessing to fit the DVD on a single layer DVD, DVD shrink can provess your 3 hour movie in less than 30 minutes... it's the cheapest choice... ofcourse you can buy a region-free player.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
