If it's over 5 years old, it may be time to replace it.
DVD RW is harder to erase, record and read. A cheap exit is to use DVDR (plus or minus depending on what's supported.)
Bob
Why does my DVD recording player , records DVD and sometimes it does not read it, message such as 'Iunknow disk', a red circle with a line across it, ''do you wish to erase damaged the disk? '' .and when I clean it , it works, and the same happens again, and not to one disk but , some . These are all new DVD disks, DVD - RW . the disks are also stored in their own case.
Also, the DVD with these messages can not be viewed but it can be viewed on the computer.
The manual states it can record and play different formats and are listed .
I often clean the DVD player with the proper alcohol specially for DVD players.
No blue ray.
Thanks
