dvd player to digital projector

Jan 5, 2006 11:45AM PST

I want to play dvd movies and/or presentations on my digital projector with one of those inexpensive ($150) portable dvd players, but there is no compatable hook up. The digital projector has computer plugs for video in from a computer and the dvd player just has rca sound and video plugs. Does anyone no of a way to accomplish this short of purchasing a laptop with dvd/cd drive ? Any help would be appreciated.

projector to dvd player

The manual for the projector actually shows what you need to buy. I have a Sharp projector and connected it to a laptop with a DVD player using the big sub D RGB cable and then the earphone cable to my sterio for sound.
I have since gotten a Sharp blueray DVD player -figuring it would connect easily - wrong- I needed a special cable, to go from projector's RGB D sub end to an HDMI end plug in to the DVD player. It couldn't be found in local stores, it only could be bought in this configuration on ebay. Hope this helps some.

Sharp Projector, Sharp blueray DVD player & my Onkyo sterio?

Hello! I have the same problem, but with a twist. I got a cable from ebay which allowed me to connect the SubD to the HDMI - that allows the video..........but no audio. I can't get the digital signal from the DVD player into my Onyo (1980's? must be analog?) tuner. I saw on ebay a converter type box, what a cobjob....can you suggest another way..or is that my only option? The ebay seller never answered this question.

It was a small thing with HDMI output. Did fine. I think about 69 bucks? Sorry, can't remember the make or model.
