DVD Player Problem

I cannot get rid of the dvd player's closed captioning. I have a Samsung DVD E-360 player, but I must add that I had the same problem with a previous DVD player connected to my current Samsung HDTV. Ideas, anyone?

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/DVD-E360/ZA finds the manual which I'll fetch shortly but also an UPGRADE FILE. Is that done?

Page 6 details the Tools menu and Subtitles. Some DVDs do not have subtitles. Your post is light on details but in the USA you would return it for a working model.

Thanks for your reply. The downloads are for Pandora which doesn't interest me right now. The player was manufactured in May 2016, no updates as yet. I'm going to check out the connections behind the player and the tv. I think my cable provider may have misconnected them. More later. Thanks.
