Does the other movie still work?

It's how I check it out. No need to play with settings if the first movie doesn't have sound.

Also, some DVDs output HD Sound and you need to find either the player's sound menu or the DVD disc menu to select old stereo.

Or the audio cable is bad

Unplugged. This is why we use that video that worked.

Remember I only know what you share. Some TVs have us change audio sources. I can't address that yet.

Direct tv

My tv is cable from direct tv. All the cables were new when i set up the dvd player. The movie worked great when hooked up. Just watched tv for awhile. Then put the movie i was watching before in again. But no sound this time. Might have to try another dvd player. Maybe the new one went bad. Thank you for your suggestions.

Direct TV shouldn't be a factor.

The usual hookup is from the DVD player to the RCA jacks on the set for video and L/R audio.

I can't check much else out without the TV make and model as well as hookups.

My new DVD player is BluRay which is HDMI and a pain for some settings to get audio to my not 5.1 sound system.
