Dvd or minidvd or Hard drive based camcorder?

I dont really have much knowledge about new camera My budget is around $350 what would best camera for me? I was wondering what is the big difference between Dvd or minidvd or Hard drive camcorder?I think hard drive camcorder are less durabale right?
