DVD, no sound

Apr 11, 2005 2:52AM PDT

Tried to play Elvis dvd on wifes Compaq 910US using WMP ver 9 and WinXP. Picture but no sound. Works on all other computers in the house. Have checked all the settings to make sure nothing is muted. Is there something about sound on DVD that is different than CD?
Thanks
Phil

WMP doesn't play DVDs in stock form.

What DVD player software do you have?

Bob,
Using Windows Media Player, however just noticed she had WinDVD player so tried that and the sound plays. Perhaps I need to update WMP.
Also, reading between your lines on what to buy I picked up a Compaq R3000z with AMD64,3200. After 2 weeks, it's great! Hope I read you right.
Thanks
Phil

The office picked up 2 R3000s with the Athlon 64. I snagged one and the other is under a drool guard. Very good unit from what I've seen.
