dvd image does not display on tv from laptop

Dec 1, 2009 6:40AM PST

When i play a dvd in my laptop which is plugged into my tv through vga cable there is no image. The dvd plays and shows on the laptop but on the tv screen all I get is the outline of the media player without any image. Everything else shows except the dvd that is playing. The elapsed time of the dvd even shows but no image. Any ideas

does not work

I already tried that and it does not help. Real player suggested that also. I actually used to watch dvds through real player and it was working fine until I upgraded to realplayer sp and now it will not show video either.

Any other ideas?

Since neither change works, then you need to make this a warranty issue.

that would be nice but the laptop is a P4 about 5 years old. It used to work fine I have another one that still works properly and shows dvd images on tvs but this one does not. Looking for any other ideas please.

But both methods have worked every time for me in some 7 or more years. If you were unlucky and neither worked then it's game over.
