I can pause the recording, with any media! Stop, come back another day to finish and then finalize. John
First, I tried looking for a discussion on this, but didn't come across one during my brief search so if it's been discussed before please accept my apologies in advance.
Here is what I want to do: we own a DVR box and upon it we have recorded and saved a number of a particular television program, which we would like to transfer to DVD media for our personal use. However, I do not wish to record the commercials or other bits of this particular program that I don't wish to keep for posterity. As such I would very much prefer to pause the recording process so that I might fast-forward to the next part I wish to record and then continue recording. Or, if I grow weary of the day's work, I wish to be able to stop recording, but not have to finalize the DVD (if that's even necessary, which leads to my question) so that I might continue with the transfer upon another day:
With a DVD-Recorder attached to my t.v./DVR box, can I pause the recording process using any DVD media or do I have to use a particular type of DVD-media? I have received conflicting information from store sales persons with some stating that pausing only works with DVD-RAM (because you do not need to finalize the DVD before ejecting it, or so some say), while others say that I can do this with any DVD media with the current batch of home DVD-recorders.
Any clarification is appreciated. Thank you.
