DVD editing help

Hi, I recently went skydiving and they taped the jump and gave it to me in dvd format. I'm trying to edit the video but it wont let me open the video in imovie for editing, is recorded in this format VTS_01_1.VOB I will like to know if there is a way or program that I can at least change the format?

Conversion

Obviously you have found that iMovie will only deal with video if it is in an editable format. DV, HDV, MPEG4.
The DVD you have is the finished, DVD'ized version of the original video.

You may be able to find a convertor using Google. You could try Handbrake as a start.

It says it will convert a bunch of stuff, including VOB, to MPEG4 which is something that iMovie can handle.
