DVD Driver. Nero Samsung choppy

Hello

I bought a new computer a few month ago. Everything has been perfect untill last night. The DVD driver has now become choopy when playing a DVD. I've used it for a few months no problem. I've tried a few different DVD's, even tried different players, result is the same. I've noticed its choppy and maybe a bit slow at the same time. Sometimes I've heard static type noises too, but only if im advancing the movie.

My computer is..Windows XP SP2
AMD athlon(tm) 64 Processor
3500+
2.220 GHz, 992 MB Ram
Samsung DVD writer

TRied Checking Samsung For Updated Firmware?

In reply to: DVD Driver. Nero Samsung choppy

Although it's possible the drive has actually gone bad, I would sure check the Samsung.. Using the drive's model number, you should be able to find updated firmware for the device.. Installing it might make a difference.

Hope this helps.

Bit drastic

It was probably just the infamous XP DMA bug, which doesn't require risking a bad firmware flash.

..I recently had to perform a similar fix on a Samsung DVD drive.. Nothing else worked.

Hope this helps.
