DVD drive not playing DVDs now

Last fall I purchased a IHAP 322 DVD drive and installed it on my computer. I asked someone at Lite On customer service if I needed to download any drivers from your site and was told no. I installed it and it worked fine after installing Nero 7. This past weekend I had to wipe my HD to fix a problem that didn't involve the DVD, but now that Nero has been reinstalled I can't play DVDs for some reason. When I try to play one I get this little box that pops up asking if I want to send an error report to MS or not. I have no idea what the problem is, any suggestions? Thanks

DVD ready

Be 100% sure all drivers, etc. have been reloaded for XP.

Also, XP doesn't have a native DVD player. You need to get one or see if that DVD drive s/w bundle had one. But, in most cases for a quick fix, I use VLC, a free player. Google for VLC.org or use this quick link:

Its a simple yet quite capable DVD media player. enjoy

Thanks for the link

to VLC, but when I went to the site and tried to download it, I got a page that said "The page cannot be found." I do recall downloading a codec from CNET and maybe that's what I haven't reinstalled. I thought I saved the file but when I checked a flash drive I saved a bunch of programs to all I found was the Cole2 Media Codec. I've installed it but it's still not working. I'll be honest I thought I just needed to reinstall Nero 7 and that would allow me to play a DVD.

I downloaded

VLC and the DVD does play in it but the color doesn't look quite right. I still can't get the DVD to play in MediaPlayer the way it used to.
