DVD Drive Error...ID CRC or ECC Error

When I try to use the DVD drive on my laptop I get the error message "Device Not Ready (ID CRC or ECC Error). What's happening here?

It's failed, dirty lens or

In Windows we delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters registry keys, reboot and retest. You can research the terms you don't understand on google.

Purchased a DVD/CD cleaner (disc type with brushes on it). The fixed the problem so far.
