Are you referring to a blank DVD disc? (No response is normal if it's blank.) a commercial movie DVD? a data DVD? All of the above?
Do you have DVD software on the computer such as WinDVD or PowerDVD for commercial movie DVDs? It's need to view them..
But since the computer is a brand new machine, I return them if something doesn't work.. Contact Toshiba or the store where you bought it.
Hope this helps.

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite P100 MA6 pc with Vista system.
When I put a dvd in, there's no respond except the running noise,
then I try to open the drive, still doesn't work. Can anyone help me
out??? It's just a new machine
