Question

DVD CD ROM Not Working

Jan 17, 2014 6:34AM PST

I have an Acer Aspire AX3400G with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. The DVD quit working a few months ago and after running the trouble shooting program I got the message "A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)". I thought the DVD just broke so I just bought a new one this week. (Lite-On Super AllWrite 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive IHAS124-04). After installing the new one my computer still doesn't recognize the new one and when running the trouble shooter again I still get the same error message. "ATAPiHAS124 W SCSI CdRom Device is not working properly. A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)" and when looking in my computer the drive is still not recognized. I searched the net and saw a few comments on this which stated the problem may be in the system registry. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Is it ok to delete the upper and lower filters
Jan 17, 2014 8:39AM PST

I have read this before but am uneasy with deleting the filters. I have looked at them and wasn't sure about deleting them. Any added information before I jump into this?

Thanks for your reply.

Just deleted the upper and lower filters, rebooted the computer and the DVD was recognized and works like a charm.
