DVD/CD Bunrer not playing

Sep 25, 2006 11:06PM PDT

I have a Plextor760A combo drive. It can read and write cd and dvd's which it does ok, however, it can not play a DVD. I have tried several different programs, from Media Player, Sonic Cine Player and others...the dvd's do not play. The progtams just crash when there is a dvd in the 760A, suggestions please. Thanks.

That's just the beginning of what needs to be told. There are a bazillion reasons for such a crash such as outdated BIOS, motherboard, video, audio, and other drivers. Bad RAM, overheating CPU or other parts.

But you didn't write a word about the machine so I can only be vague.

Drive failed

Sorry about that - I in the meantime ran the diag test on the drive, it failed..so it seems that it must be something with the drive...returning it. Thanks.

What a nice machine!

Thanks for the list.

Sorry to read about the failure. Next time you are in the box, think about air circulation (cooling) for the drives. Sometimes we can leave a gap from drive to drive. Helps a lot.

Thanks! Wires are wrapped and disk are kept a space in between as you suggested, air flow helped with 4 fans.
