Question

DVD burning, reading problem

by deepakrey / May 10, 2012 4:17 PM PDT

I burn data on DVD-R. The burning process goes well and at the end I get the message that it was successful. But when I insert the burned DVD it shows nothing, used space - 0 bytes, free space - 0 bytes. It is reading previously burned data DVD and other CDs. I used Ashampoo free burning 6, Nero Lite and today used CDburnerXP. My laptop is Windows 7 ultimate 64, Intel i3. I doubt this is due to KIS 2012. About a month ago I was using Avast free and back then there was no such burning or reading issue.

Did you use the 'verify' option to check the burning result inside the burning program?
And what is KIS 2012?

Did you use the 'verify' option - No

I think it's unlikely that it is related to KIS 2012. But if you think so, uninstall it, try the burning again and reinstall it. And be sure to use the verify option for that test.

My guess: the burner has gone south. A new one isn't so very expensive.

Will it let you attempt to burn to the disk again, or does it think it's got data? When you look at the DVD-R does it look like it's been burned to?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
