The Disc Needs To Be Burned As A DVD Format

Which software are you using to create the DVD? What file format is the original movie? Are you trying to copy a copyright protected movie? Please EXPLAIN exactly your procedures for create the disc.

I prefer using blank DVD+R discs as most DVD players work best with them.. In addition, when I create and burn the disc, I tend to burn the disc very slowly, usually 4X to 8X.. High speed burns, at least in my experience, reflect poorer reliability and poorer quality.

And remember, some older types of television DVD players are extremely picky.. Sometimes, they simply won't play "burned" discs.. Try your disc on a different player.

Hope this helps.

Then You'll Need To Use The Right Software, Such As...
Jul 9, 2009 1:35PM PDT

...the program mentioned by Bob Proffitt below is a good free program which will convert .avi files into DVD format and then burn it to a disc. (DVD Flick). Once the files are in DVD format, then your TV DVD player should allow you to view the video correctly.

Hope this helps.

unfortunately, not all avi files are the same

my DVD player can also play "regular" avi files (burned as 'data' files)

but just this week i made a few 'coasters' while trying to burn a dozen avi files, then i found out that they were "Motion JPEG" files taken by a CanonMVI02

maybe you have the same problem?
