I tried searching and didn't see anyone with my same problem so I decided to ask. I just built a computer for mt cousins and we put a Toshiba dual layer DVD+/-R(w)drive and when I put a CD in it won't read it, it reads DVDs fine, just not CDs. I got the drive from Fry's, and almost every other piece of hardware I've gotten from there has malfunctionedin one way or another. I have the jumpers set to cable select and I've tried pluging it in as the master and slave and still no go. I also have an old CD-Rom in the box as well. Could this drive be dead? Would the best course of action be to call toshiba and send it back to them (seeing as my cousins threw out the box for the drive and I can't take it back to fry's.)
thanx guys (and gals)
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
