DVD Burner recommendations

Can any DVD writer burn DVD movies correctly? Which brands of writers are recommended?

Maybe. What's the definition of correct?

Let's see, I have a 79 buck 4x MadDog and an 120 dollar 8x MagicSpin. Both work. I can't imagine paying any more.

I mean by correct:

I can backup my dvd movies, regarding of the cd protection.

No DVD recorder does that as supplied. If they did, then the powers that be would have the supplier in (US) court in no time.
