DVD burner problem.

I recently had a problem with my dvd burner. I found out i had to upgrade the firmware. So I did. The probelem still existed so I tried another file from the manufacter's website. The second file I tried messed up my dvd burner. It doesn't even show up as installed on my computer anymore. so there's no way i can downgrade my firmware to the older version. What can i do? can anyone help? Thanks.

that the firmware messed up my dvd burner and now it doesn't even show up on my computer but i have it physically installed correctly. I have no way of accessing it in the computer so there's no way for me to downgrade the firmware to the previous version. That's the problem, i need my computer to reconize that my dvd burner is there so i can't change the firmware. That's the problem!!

Not a good day.

Most people learn that such an event is a return to the maker's repair shop. The fee for them to reprogram the drive so it will work is about the same price (if we include shipping fees) so most end up in the dumpster.

Even calling the repair center is usually a toll call so costs mount up fast.

I'd get a new drive.
