I?m having a problem with my 8x8 dvd burner, just about ready to pull my hair out, what?s left of it.
It?s an LG I?ve updated the firmware and the software.
It will read dvd?s it will read burnt dvd?s it will burn to cdr?s it will read cdr?s but whenever I put in a blank dvd it reverts back to a plain cd drive, I?ve also reformatted the computer and reinstalled Windows xp professional with service pack 1 installed, I?ve also exchanged the burner for another new one still no different, please help, and the joke is I?m A+ certified and cannot figure it out, no luck with their tec support either.
And trying to make out anything about the aspi layer is above me, i've also updated all software
thanks ahead of time.

Can't tell if this will help.

Mine did the same. Here's what I did.

1. Updated the drive firmware on both the CDRW and DVD recorders. HINT!!! The CDRW needed the update too!

2. Installed a shiny new 80 conductor IDE cable, set the CD/DVD drives to cable select.

3. Updated the motherboard drivers from the Via web site.

All better.

I can't assure this will fix yours, but I've done this on more than a few machines. I'm unsure why some won't install the 80 conductor cables. I think that some get stuck on "It should work with the old cables" rather that going with what works.

Is it a dual format burner?
My guess is that it is not a dual format burner and you are trying to use the wrong media.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
