My DVD dual layer burner is on the end connector and set to master. My CD burner is on the middle connector and set to slave.
I don't trust CS (cable select).
i just recieved my new burner.i have a question about ide cables and jumpers. i have seen posts from people having trouble with their burners. they were told to set one drive to master and one to slave.i had the burner i am replacing set to cable select. it worked fine for a year then failed.i have a dvd rom drive also on my computer.does it matter where i set the jumper on my new burner?
will it matter if i use a 40 or 80 pin ide cable with the burner? the plextor that failed came with a 40 pin cable.i had been using the cable that came with my dell 8200. both of my drives were on the same cable.i am not sure how many pins it is. the new burner is a nec- 3550a.this is a dual layer burner so i was wondering if it matters which cable i use?
