DVD Blanked for no reason

Sep 5, 2006 12:54AM PDT

I borrowed a DVD and when I tried to play it, it would not play on any of my DVD players it just showed 00 and turned off. So I tried volume 2 of this DVD set; it would play the first 3 chapters but then it started to skip around to different parts of different chapters. I have several different types of DVD players to take into account the various types of DVD disk. I returned them and told him my problems with the discs. He tried to play them this last weekend. He too was unable to play them. This is the same player it has played on before.

Today he brought it back and I tried to look at its files and could not find any at all on Volume 1 but all of the files on volume 2 discs. On friday I could see the files on Volume 1. Does anyone know what?s going on?

And No he did not erase them. He knows how to put them in and play them.

Take it to the store you bought it and...

Have them try it there. You could have a defective set.

Not unheard of.

Thanks Bob;
I am doing that but just curious as to why after being able to play both volumes to being able to play only a small part and then to not being able to play at all and having all the files disapear. I know strange things happen but that's a little much don't you think. I appreciate your input.

I had only a few bum DVDs from the stores but it's happened to me. There are some that will do anything but take the DVD back as well as replace players and more.

The silver (mostly) store bought DVDs can't be erased but can be bad from day 1.
