DVD Backup

Oct 31, 2006 11:56AM PST

Hi I'm new to cnet and I had a question about burning dvds. I have a dvd drive in my laptop but it doesnt work very well. I asked one of my friends and they told me that i could hook up a dvd player directly to my laptop and record the movie onto my computer and then burn the movie off of that. I just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about this and could help me out. thanks in advance.

1. What do you mean with "it doesn't work very well"?
2. What exactly do you want to do with it?
3. What burning software do you have?

IF this is a commercial DVD movie which contains copyright protection, forum policies prevent us from discussing ways to illegally pirate copyrighted videos.

What Can I Do With My Burner

That said, if your laptop DVD burner isn't working well then you probably need to replace it before venturing into this area.. There's really no need for a second player as long as the primary burner works right. You simply copy a disk image to the hard drive, then burn the final DVD from the image.

Hope this helps.
