DVD-1080P8

Dec 6, 2008 7:43PM PST

I recently bought a rerurbed unit of above and wanted to upgrade to the newest firmware (I should had returned it but unfortunately was late as I did not discover the intermitant disconect of dvd player from hdmi until i started using it a month later). I have burned 26 CD and 8 DVD and have not been able to get the dvd player to recognised the media I put into the player. I have tried various settings.....and have read everything I have searched on the net.....and still come up empty. I could not even request a CD from samsung as the serial number is blank out. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank

Ziggy1988,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble.

Here's a link to the firmware and the instructions. (please follow the instructions carefully!)

Keep me posted on how this goes.

I'm sorry for your unfortunate plight with service, however, they are following the correct protocol regarding serial numbers. You should never receive a Samsung product WITHOUT a serial number.

In the meantime, let's get you up and running. Happy

Before I posted, I had gone through the firmware, had copied on over 30 CD/DVD of various brands hoping that I would be able to upgrade the firmware (makeing sure I burn at the lowest possible speed and finalising the disc).
I can assure you that I have read all the instructions (even have searched the net for tips and help before I posted. I am fully aware that the instruction on Sumsung website is wrong. And have used what others said may work but personally didnt.
I tried burning the firmware again, and it still didnt work. I am at a point of giving up and feel there is no way around upgrading the firmware (as is also the opinions of many others). Might be time to junk the player I bought a few months ago and go for something else.
