DV or MPEG2 on JVC

by thaibass / July 17, 2008 8:04 PM PDT

Hello,

I've tried searching, to no avail.
I have the JVC MG555. The software that allows me to use it's original mpg2 format is all pretty bad (at least in DVD title menu choices). I've tried the included software and even bought Pinnacle, but the animated title choices are atrocious! I found what I like using Microsoft's DVD Burning software.

To get it there, I have two choices... get it onto my computer using dv, then edit and burn using MS software - or use MPEG2, edit with Pinnacle, save as .avi, then burn using MS software.

Which one is going to be a higher quality movie, dv or MPEG2 ?

Thanks everyone.

DV. There is no debate on that one.

I was under the impression that the JVC Everios recorded in MPEG2. In that case it would go through an additional file conversion to dv, dropping quality. Is this wrong?

Thanks
