Resolved Question

Dust under smart phone screens?

May 16, 2015 12:06AM PDT

I have never owned a smart phone before, but am considering the new LG G4 when it comes out, which I will carry in my front jeans pocket. Is dust under the phone's screen glass a problem for smart phones in general? I have had this problem with my Canon digital camera and my Samsung Convoy 3 flip phone and was hoping newer smart phone screens are sealed better, without having to buy a model that says specifically it's dust and water resistant.

But I'm sure with some billion phones out there, somewhere there are some that have this issue.

Are you worrying or did your phone fail?

Just asking

Because of the issue with my camera (which I was very careful with and usually carried it in a case) and Samsung phone, I just wondered if it was common with non-"dust proof" phones. I don't have a phone yet, but as my original post says, am considering the LG G4 which is not "dust proof".

Nothing is absolutely dust proof.

But not one of the few hundred phones I've seen has dust in the screen layers. There is dust in the cracks can crevivces, buttons and such but nothing I worry about.

Now if someone worries about a new model like this there's not much can be done about that. But so far, no problem with some other first hand experiences.

Glad to hear...I'm sure this includes all the phones with replaceable batteries where the back pops off.

My camera (Canon SD 880) was especially bad, and surprised since I was pretty careful with it.
