The InstallShield Update Service is not a default Windows service and is safe to disable, both entries of you wish. The "Microsoft Windows Operating System" one is a little more questionable. Usually it's just the Windows Sidebar and one or both can be disabled if you wish. Best to check the Command field first, though, to verify that is in fact what you're dealing with.

My Vista OS seems to be getting sluggish. Checked Msconfig, found duplicate versions of "Miscrosoft Windows Operating Systen" and two versions of "InstallShield Update Service".
Do I need both versions of these files. For that matter, do I need either?
If I can delete one of each, which one, or does it make a difference?
