Question

duplicated emails in Outlook 365

Jul 15, 2019 7:55AM PDT

I have just subscribed to Office 365. I use 2 different Outlook emails, one is @hotmail.com and the other is @hotmail.co.uk. When I receive an email for either of my addresses BOTH inboxes receive a copy. Can anyone help me as to how to cure this weird anomaly? Outgoing emails are not affected. Thanks.

- Do you use pop3 or imap as a protocol?
- If you use webmail, do you see such a mail in only one inbox or in both?
- If you delete it from one in Outlook 365, does it stay in the other?

Hello. I can answer 2 out of 3. I am not sure where to look for pop3 or imap? I don't use webmail. If I delete from one it stays in the other. Hope this helps a bit?

1. You should be able to see it in the account settings.
2. Start webmail from your browser to see that. Just an experiment, not meant for permanent use.

Hi again and thanks for the help. Outlook on the web says that my account settings are IMAP as follows: Server Name: outlook office 365.com / port 993 / encryption method TLS / SMTP settings: server name: smtp.office365.com / port 587 / encryption method STARTTLS. Must confess this is all double dutch to me but hope you can help. Also on webmail messages do not appear to be duplicated. Many thanks.

I'd expect that the two accounts (hotmail.com and hotmail.co.uk) in Outlook 365, each having an inbox, would have different settings in that tells to what they are connected. I don't see that in your answer.

Hello again. I have checked both of my email accounts (.com and co.uk) and both are configured exactly the same as per my last reply? Hope this helps.
