Duplicate Outlook Reminders

May 22, 2009 8:29PM PDT

Hi there,
I've been using MS Office for years now and am currently on version 2007.
However For the last few days I've been getting duplicate reminders for all appointments, Birthdays, meetings etc.
I don't recall exactly when in the last few days it started, and I haven't knowingly made any setting changes.
Do you have any idea what may be causing this, and what I can do to rectify it?
Kind regards
Mike7P

have you tried the command line switch?

Exit Outlook. Then navigate and find your outlook.exe file; highlight it and right click and select send to desktop (create shortcut). Then find that newly created shortcut; highlight it, right click it and choose properties. In the target section you will see the command in quotes that runs Outlook. Go to the end of that add a space then add "/cleanreminders" without the quotes and click the ok button.
Then double click that new shortcut to start Outlook and clean up your reminders. See if that fixes your problem. Happy

Duplicate Tasks - single reminders
Apr 10, 2011 2:35PM PDT

Hello,
Tried the /cleanreminders & it didn't work. It might have cleaned up double reminders, but I still see duplicate tasks on the "To Do Bar". Can't find any fix.
HELP!!

You might need a different switch
Apr 10, 2011 8:51PM PDT

You might need a different command line switch for tasks.

You don't say which version Outlook you are using, but here are the available switches for Outlook 2003;
http://www.petri.co.il/outlook_2003_command_line_switches.htm

If you are using a different version, Google Outlook command line switches and insert the version after Outlook, eg Outlook 2007, or whatever.

Thank you sooo much for pointing me in the correct direction. Little did I know that I Googledthe wrong this - "duplicate tasks in Outlook" vs "Command Switches" (since I didn't know the switches existed prior to this problem).
Sincerely,

Glad I could help

Google is great, but sometimes, just sometimes, we need to know the right terms to search for. "Outlook command line switches" is not that intuitive.

Good luck.

Outlook 2010 Reminders Problem
Jan 19, 2012 1:50PM PST

Hi David,
I tried following your instructions for the 2010 version and created the shortcut but it will not allow me to place cleanreminders line in the target section giving error message.
Any suggestions on how we can solve the same problem for Outlook 2010?
