they are showing up because of hardware problems. in the case of the floppy drive, it's probably the BIOS configuration. you will need to check in the motherboard manual to see if there is soemthing you need to change. in the case of the CD-ROM drive, this usually means that the jumpers on the drive are not correctly set. if the CD-ROM drive is sharing a cable with a hard drive, you need to check the jumpers on both drives. the drive vendor web site will have manuals with configurations and jumper settings appropriate for each type of connection.
