Resolved Question

Dummies guide for Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210?

Jul 18, 2014 8:03AM PDT

I recently bought my wife a Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210 but of course these companies are so tight fisted there was no manual. The Samsung Web Page was, as is normal impossible to get into, at least for a non-technician such as myself.
I'm not Impressed with the Samsung manuals but as I have always found the "Dummies" quite helpful I looked on the Web and found the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 For Dummies Paperback but I wonder if it is the same as the Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210.

Many thanks but I'm seeking verification on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 For Dummies and I don't rate the Samsung guide.

What is verification?

Maybe you are looking for something more general on Android? There are a lot of video tutorials and here's one with the basics, plus what you see on screen may be called.

Frankly, Android is the new Windows. That is, if you wanted to avoid all this, I would get an iPad.

Dummies manual for a Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210.

My question is:

I looked on the Web and found the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 For Dummies Paperback but I wonder if it is the same as the Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210?

How finely must this be sliced?

Since the OS and apps can change it's a safe bet that what you see in the book won't match exactly what you see on the tablet. I'm encountering folk that can't accept that.

My answer is therefore, no.

How finely must this be sliced?

I stated that: "I looked on the Web and found the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 For Dummies Paperback and wondered if it is the same as the Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210?" In other words does it offer information on the Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210. As a close to 80 year old non technocrat I thought that was a reasonable question because the two titles do differ.

R. Proffitt asked: "How finely must this be sliced? Since the OS and apps can change it's a safe bet that what you see in the book won't match exactly what you see on the tablet. I'm encountering folk that can't accept that. My answer is therefore, no."

I'm obliged to ask, "No" to what?" I can understand that OS and apps can change which means that it's a safe bet that what you see in the book won't match exactly what you see on the tablet but I doubt that these changes are so fundamental as to negate the book.

However, bearing in mind that there is such a difference in the titles of the two manuals I am still looking for an answer to the question: "Does the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for Dummies Paperback" carries the same information as the Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210 manual?"
I am asking that question for two reasons:

1. Because I have looked at the Samsung produced manual and I did not find it user friendly whereas I have always found the Dummies publications the exact opposite.

2. Because I would prefer not to buy the Dummies publication if it is not fit for purpose.

You'll have to find folk that have both.

And my "no" is simply because I'm finding folk upset the manual(s) don't match the product. Frankly I don't know if that will ever be solved since one model is unlike the next as one may get an update and blammo, the manual is now out of sync.

There are many fine Android guides but you want something EXACT. I could be wrong.

Its the first time I've ever seen the term Android but I wished I had never bought the Samsung because my wife is only interested in playing patience and cheating on the Guardian crossword puzzle. I will have to get the grandson over to instruct us.
