dumb newbie question

Aug 9, 2004 11:47AM PDT

If you have the Centrino chip can you use a wired networking system or does it have to be a wireless system. After reading the post "Surprised to find network at home: what to do?" i want to have a wired network instead of a wireless network.

Also is it possible to have both wireless and wired networks? If so can u just disable the wireless if not being used?

Yes to both your questions. I think you will be fine.

The processor doesn't matter. Build your network as you see fit. I have three wired PCs and one wireless laptop to my 4 port router. Each PC has a different processor. The router should give you the option to enable or disable the wireless port.

Have fun.
