Dull Colors

Okay, I just bought this Dell Inspiron laptop and I am noticing that the colors everywhere appears so dull. I've tried everything from colors settings to brightness. Nothing seem to work. I'm very close to reinstalling the Vista, since a disc was included. Help?

Could be a bad display

In reply to: Dull Colors

It could be a bad display on the laptop. I'd go ahead with the reinstall, and if that doesn't do it, call up Dell and complain. Make use of that warranty. You don't even want to know what it would likely cost to have a display replaced on a system out of warranty.

Okay.

I will try the reinstall, since I have the disc. I got this laptop from Aaron's Rent, so I'll see what Dell can do for me and if I have a warranty or not.

It is like all the colors seem to have some sort of grayness, but I can't explain it. Everything just appears and feels so different, not the same as the other computers.

Well

Well, pray to whatever deity you happen to believe in (if any) that it's still under warranty. If it's not, you either live with it or start looking for a new laptop. Unless you want to try replacing the display yourself. It's not difficult so much as it's really involved. Often requiring you remember where a number of different screws go, quite likely a lot of little wires for things like wifi and bluetooth, and that sort of thing. I can point you to a site that specializes in used Dell laptop parts that's pretty cheap, and far more reliable than eBay... But you'd still likely be looking at the better part of $200 minimum.
