are you getting a new desktop or another laptop? adding a monitor to a laptop can be very helpful if you have a smaller laptop. adding two monitors to a laptop would be a pain unless you have some sort of docking station.
generally two monitors makes it easier to control the size of the individual windows, from accidentally closing the wrong window, not paying attention which window is active then accidentally deleting or adding characters to some spreadsheet field and more. I have been using two monitors for years. having that second monitor saved my bacon more than once.
I am currently looking into buying a PC soon, but more importantly, I have a work laptop that all my new coworkers say I need a PC monitor to link with to actually get stuff done (I guess the laptop screen size is too small or something?). Upfront disclaimer: I do NOT do any gaming or video editing or graphic design; I only do basic personal and business related computer activities. Power BI, Brackets for coding, virtual machine for pen tests, mainly excel spreadsheets; that’s the most “complex” stuff I do on a daily, nothing fancy. I mainly multitask, and in the past I have used, and currently still want, a multiscreen setup. I would like some advice for those more PC-savvy than myself about whether I should get two separate monitors or an ultra wide monitor? Are ultrawides mainly just for gaming? Does business work warrant an ultra wide monitor? Like I said, two screens or an ultra wide would only be used for business multitasking, nothing artsy here.
Thank you!
