You didn't give any reason you would want a DVD recorder in your laptop.

A common misconception I find is that people don't understand the incremental nature of burner technology.

For example, It's a DVD burner, can I burn CD's? Of course!

So basically, a CD-Burner will burn Audio, Data, Video, and MP3 CD's.

A +R DVD burner will do ALL that plus it will burn video, data, and MP3 DVDs on +R/+RW media.

A +/- DVD Burner will do all that plus it will do it on -R/-RW media.

A double-layer DVD burner will do all that plus it will burn double-layer +R/+RW discs . . .

dvd recorders burn all

If by computer dvdrw drive than yes it will burn mp3 as they are set up to burn all formats.
If your in the market of wanting to buy a good dvdrw drive than look at the more uppper market drives that come with software, drivers ect. Asus, sony and pioneer are probly the best otherwise wait till bluray drives become cheaper and more readily availible.

p.s make sure if your buying a dvd drive to get a dual layer.
