The Dual Core is basically two P4's in one chip with all of the heat problems and minimal interface method between the 2 cores.
The Core 2 Duo is an entirely new CPU architecture, much lower power consumption, far better performance than P4's at lower clock speed.
The first version of the Core 2 Duo is based on the Conroe Core, The quad version is the Kentsfield core.
The mobile Core 2 Duo is the Merom, low power, lower performance but excellent for a laptop.
The Conroe core has left AMD in the dust .

Hi There could someone try to tell me in plain english what the difference is between Intels Dual core and Core 2 Duo apart from the price, and is the AMD 2 Dual Core as fast as Intel's which AMD processor is equal to Intel's processors.
