DSO Exploit

by sabina_2004 / October 31, 2004 12:17 PM PST

Hello JanJan, I also have Spybot and the same is happening to me. It has also blocked the messages that you might have received with regards to this. I would be grateful if you could let me know the solution.
I sent a message to spybot, and also read something on their website and it is apparently a problem that they are "aware" of and are going to rectify it. From what I understand, it is probably not our pc, but something in their program?
regards,
sabina.

Hey sabina, I had the exact same problem. First, make sure that your internet explorer is up to date. This can be done by clicking Tools -> Windows Update. You will be taken to a site then given a list of needed upgrades to IE and other items. Download any security update / hotfix that is marked "critical". Next, a simple google search told me how to solve it. Here it is - http://www.pchell.com/support/dsoexploit.shtml Hope that works!

Spybot S&D has corrected the problem they were having with the DSO exploit removal. This link is for the discussion in the Virus and Securities Forum about the problem and the fix. Just click on this link and then click on the Major Geeks link that Marianna has posted in there. This will change your Spybot S&D version to 1.3.1TX. Do NOT uninstall your version, this will install inside it. Run the scan once you are done and let Spybot fix the DSO. The next time you run it, it should be gone. If you have anymore problems with it after that, just post a reply on that board and someone will help you there. Hope this helps.
